The Founder
Choice Architecture is led by Joe Armitage, a Christchurch-based residential designer with over a decade of experience working on bespoke homes and rural properties across New Zealand and abroad.
Joe established the studio to provide a considered and personal approach to residential projects — one grounded in clear communication, disciplined planning, and architectural restraint.
Working closely with each client from initial consultation through to developed design and documentation, he remains directly involved at every stage. This hands-on approach ensures design decisions stay aligned with the brief, the realities of the site, and the way the home will ultimately be lived in.
Experience across urban Christchurch sites, hillside properties, lifestyle blocks, and coastal environments has shaped a pragmatic yet design-led approach — balancing creativity with buildability and long-term durability.
